Google Forms

Google Forms is an innovative method of data collection within the Google Docs Suite. Google forms can be used to create surveys and assessments. They are easy to use and share. Collected data is then placed into a spreadsheet for storage and analysis.

What it can do:

  • Multiple choice (all viewed or drop-down list), short answer, paragraph answer, multiple answer, scales, grids.
  • Provide group analysis for multiple choice, multiple answer, scales, and grids.
  • Instant formative/summative assessment that allows for immediate real-time feedback.

What it can't do:

  • It can't automatically grade the form
    • Code can be used to grade, but not initially built in
  • It can't use symbols or pictures
    • You can use with another diagram, projected picture, or another web page where the diagrams or pictures are located (see the mathematics example below)

What is needed to use Forms:

  • A Google Account (only the teachers need it)
  • A way to share the link, like a class web page
